How do I do this....

Hi.
I want to create a tree with the following specifications but I am really struggling with all the software I have tried. I really don't want to have to resort to just doing it in an art programme....

Traditional looking tree going down the page.
First name then surname, not surname first.
No automatic name change when married.
And the ability to show two ancestor trees coming together (as this is a tree for the purpose of showing exactly that!)

Please help me stop going crazy and tell me how to do it all on Ahnenblatt....

Hello and welcome to the user community of Ahnenblatt!

There is hardly a reason to go mad with the software, although there are limitations as everywhere, of course.

What you see first, is the navigator. For graphic results you need to generate a table.

First, you should tell (the software) which sort of tree you want: ancestors or descendants.
The firstname should be first automatically in the generated tables.
In Extras > Options > Text components (or so) you can set whether you want the family name or the birth name.
For the last thing you want (two ancestor trees coming together), I'm a bit confused: Where are they coming together? In what sense? Marriage?

Maybe you could explain a bit.

I'm sorry - I've just seen, english Menu items have been mixed up: what should be "Extras" is called "Tools" and vice versa. So look at "Tools" > "Options" > "Text modules" instead.

And b.t.w. you find an English Help file here: http://members.shaw.ca/Mathemagician/. It's a work in progress though.
