Hi folks,
the new version Ahnenblatt 3.0 has been released yesterday on the German speaking website ahnenblatt.de. Should be published on the international site Ahnenblatt.com within a short delay.
After 16 months of public testing, the thing is quite stable, evolved, elaborated and usability proof. Well, as I think.
What you are downloading is a demo version which can be transformed into a full version by purchasing a license code - at a reasonable amount. The new version of Ahnenblatt won't be just freeware anymore, but will exist on three levels: demo mode, light mode (called 2.99) and full=paying mode.
Dirk Böttcher has extended the data model and the editing mode of Ahnenblatt so that nearly all possible combinations within GEDCOM data standard can be read and written. E.g. sources and annotations can be added on somewhat 4 or 5 levels. You can even add your own tags.
Here's what Dirk told about the new version:
- New: revised input dialogue (more events, more details)
- New: source management centre
- New: address management centre
- New: task management centre
- New: search for updates (manually/automatic)
- New: option „identification after name“ (options/text modules)
- New: list „family facts“ as an abstract of your own work
- New: help feature in english language
Printing features and the like haven't changed much yet. Guess, will be developped next or so.
Just to let you know!
Frido
