For quite a moment, Dirk is working on an new main version of Ahnenblatt. It will be a software with two faces for two types of genealogists: The ones who prefer simplicity in the software will have the "classical" look with a few supplementary features, the others who are looking for full support of GEDCOM capabilities including self defined facts will get an augmented edit window (with source management for every single fact etc.).
Dirk already launched a notice about new licence politics that will accompany the new versions: For the first time, the full version will be a paying one (39 EUR one-off); there will be a free version, too: the last one of the 2.9x series will be maintained. And there will be a Demo version with some restrictions in the full version.
All versions will have automatic background internet research, but only the 'full' version will be able to handle distinct source and notes management (according to GEDCOM possibilities).
Nowbody knows when the great AB 3.0 will be out. It is in Beta testing since January.

Empfehlung: Für die neue Version 3.x alle relevanten Handbücher lesen!
(es gibt das Benutzerhandbuch und mehrere Themen-Specials!)
