Transfer of Data

Beitrag von Capn-Ken »

I have considerable information about my family located on an old floppy that has a program on it "PR 2.0" or aka Personal Roots 2.0 which is a DOS program created in 1990 to 1994.
Can I import the data contained on the floppy to this program if I download it? I can open the "NameFile.dbx" in Open Office. The program is a list of information contained on the floppy.

Hello Capn Ken,

it isn't possible to import an *.dbx file into Ahnenblatt.
But: Would you show us a part of the file?
Perhaps we can help you to transform your data to the file-system of Ahnenblatt.

Hello,
my Englisch ist not perfekt.

I have read in a other Forum:

"I found a program to ecport Personal Roots 2.0 to a standard GEDCOM file. It was written by the original author of P.R.
First go here:

http://www.saintclair.org/ftp/pub/pafutils/?S=A

In the list look for prged20.zip

I have not tried the software yet so I have no information as to its ability to really work. It should be fine, but run at your risk."

Can this you help ?

Hello FrankG,

thank you for helping.
Perhaps the program prged20.zip solves the problem.

If not:
Hello Capn ken,

try this:
Right klick on PR.EXE and chose "properties". Then chose "compatibility". Check "compatibility mode", chose "WIN 95" and then "assume/accept".

Now try to run PR.EXE.

Does it work?
