Before installing the version 3.23, I had written names of a part of my families in English and Japanese (in chinese characters). After installing the new version, the chinese characters have disappeared and you can only see the two quesion marks instead. Is it possible to recover the chinese characters?

Thank you for your message. With the new version, 3.25, I can write in Chinese characters, but the characters converted into ? marks remain the same. Is it possible to recover all the Chinese characters that I had before with the version 3.23? Or do I have to write again all the chinese characters?

It sadly looks as if the Unicode content has been deleted through that software error.

You should immediately look into your data directories - if there are some MyFamilyFile.001.bak, 002.bak .. 00x.bak have remained. They are backup files from your last x savings.

If you didn't save too much in meantime, there should be a version of your file be left from AB 3.22 wich would contain most of the older data. It won't contain the last changes, though. But would help to provide the older data.

Then you can see which way is easier to go: Add the latest changes to the backup file or restore all lost Unicode characters to the last file!
